When you first think of ginger, you probably think of gingerbread cookies, or ginger ale, the carbonated soft drink. Indeed, ginger is a delicious spice that offers a great way to turn up the flavor in your diet! There are so many ways to use ginger!
Whether you want to use it in your cooked meals, drink it as a tea, or press it into fresh juice, you’ll be able to receive all the amazing health benefits of ginger. However, when you’re picking out your pieces of ginger root, make sure they are firm to the touch, and look out for discolorations or soft spots. Also, the bigger the piece of ginger, the older it is and the more pungent its flavor will be!

From respiratory problems to heartburn – this root plant is a miracle worker for all sorts of health issues. It decreases inflammation, boosts detoxification, reduces blood sugar, improves insulin sensitivity, increases circulation, breaks down fibrin (non-globular protein involved in the clotting of blood) and makes blood less sticky, fights respiratory infections, and eases the painful symptoms of a range of ailments, from a sore throat to rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. This fresh root contains protein-digesting enzymes. It's spicy nature warms up a sluggish digestive system, promotes beneficial bacteria, kills gut pathogens, and relieves gas, pain, bloating, and of course the popular option Nausea!

A closely related herb is Turmeric which offers similar benefits but acts more like a bitter/liver herb. It blends well with Ginger cuts down on the hot/spicy taste.

Ginger improves digestion, relieves lower gut pain and colic, and warms the body. With it being a anti inflammatory for cold pains associated with tense muscles, arthritis, old injuries, headaches, and muscle cramps including menstrual cramps. Ginger actually has reduced the amount of menstrual bleeding. Fresh ginger in food and teas fends off gut pathogens as well as colds and the flu. It helps break a fever by causing you to sweat!
My go- to tea that's quick and easy to make only requires 3 ingredients
-1 piece of ginger, sliced thin or grated (no need to peel)
-2 Lemon wedges
-1-2 tablespoons of honey
-2 cups of boiling water
I usually let it steep for 30 minutes but for best results 1 hour and I just reheat it and drink it as a tea.
Here's a cool tea infused single cup if you are looking for one!
